The HUB Theatre - A dynamic circle of story, art, and community.

By Helen Pafumi
Directed by Kirsten Kelly

July 11–August 3, 2014

Two time Helen Hayes Nominee Kirsten Kelly takes a break from her demanding documentary filming schedule and returns to The Hub after her smash hit Big Love last summer, to direct the world premier of Abominable by Helen Pafumi. Pafumi’s work was last seen at Theatre Alliance this past year in the Helen Hayes nominated adaptation of Wonderful Life, which she co-wrote with Hub veteran Jason Lott. Kelly is near wrapping Homestretch, a documentary about homeless youth in Chicago.

In Abominable, Sam is dealing with a lot, but so do all teenagers. His bones are growing so fast that sometimes he feels inhuman. Meanwhile, a mysterious and beastly footprint is discovered in the middle of town. While his mother tries to find out what is happening to Sam, more footprints appear and terrify the community as gossip and mayhem abound. A play that walks the brink between boy and man, and man and beast.
