Artistic Director
Helen Pafumi has primarily worked as an actor in many DC area theatres, including Folger Theatre, Woolly Mammoth, Forum Theatre, Rorschach Theatre, Keegan Theatre, Didactic Theatre, The Inkwell, the Beckett Centenary Festival, Vpstart Crow, Madcap Players, and Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre. She has also appeared in numerous independent films and area commercials. In addition Helen works as a freelance graphic designer, does dialect coaching for George Mason University's theatre program and has choreographed for Bouncing Ball productions. She has taught acting and/or dance for Five Star Conservatory for the Performing Arts, Northern Virginia Center for Dance and Theatre and the Reston Community Center. She holds a BA in Theatre from Virginia Tech.

Director of Education
Maggie Ulmer has worked in education and public service through the arts in professional and volunteer capacities for the past ten years. She has taught theater at a local community center, acted in regional professional and community theaters, and coordinated special projects /new works development for Kaiser Permanente's Educational Theater Programs. Maggie has employed her artistic vision in her work as an independent filmmaker. She has edited industrial films and internal marketing tools for Kaiser Permanente. She also created a documentary for the Bethany Women's Shelter in Washington DC. Above all else she feels art is transformative and has committed herself to facilitating this process for as many people as possible; this is evidenced by a creative reach that has included puppeteering, opera and improvisational acting. Most recently she directed a one-man show of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at Lake Anne Plaza through the auspices of her own start-up theater company, The Midtown Playhouse.

Co-Founder
Marey Oakes has been actively involved in one non-profit or another since 1979. She is currently taking a leave of absence from her position as Program Coordinator for the National Peace Foundation in Washington, DC. Marey started her college career as a Social Work Student at Catholic University. She graduated from George Mason University's Bachelor of Individualized Studies Program with a Concentration in Writing for Social Documentary. She enjoys combining her interests in non-profit management, theater and story-telling (in all its compelling glory) to encourage community activists, audience participants and grant-makers near and far to experience and support this professional theater company.
